Peaceful Ealing Garden

The owners of this property were upgrading the rear of their house to feature a new extension with new wide patio doors opening onto their garden. To make the most of the new view from the house, and bring the outside in, Aoba Landscapes was tasked to create a space that felt like an extension of the interior.

The owners wanted spaces to relax and entertain, which led to two seating areas at either end of the garden. A transition zone unites the two spaces and features a Corten steel water pond, which softens the ambience of the garden and attracts wildlife. As an east facing garden, the two seating spaces allow the owners to chase the sun from mornings by the house to evenings at the end of the garden. By the house, the terrace is set at the same floor level as the interior, creating a contemporary indoor – outdoor feel. A mix of Jura Grey Limestone and Grey Basalt paving breaks up the paving to create interest while a vibrant planting scheme adds structure, texture and colour and softens the hard landscaping elements of the garden.

WHAT OUR CLIENT HAD TO SAY:

We would highly recommend John and his team at Aoba Landscapes.

We hired John early in our house extension project to ensure the garden and the house worked together. John came for a number of site visits despite being regularly splashed with concrete from the building works! He provided a couple of initial concepts and then worked up the chosen option, providing a range of ideas and solutions.

We also hired the landscaping team to come and build the garden. The team were friendly, efficient, and kept to the promised timescales. Some materials weren’t available due to Brexit and Chris duly found solutions for us.

We’re extremely happy with the result and having a beautiful garden has really changed how much time we spend outdoors.
