Terraced Hanwell Garden
This project involved the transformation of a unique and unusual garden. The garden is spread across multiple levels with steep slopes in between. The space was totally overgrown but is now a multi-functional space for entertaining and relaxing with additional woodland areas and stepped terraces.
These different levels of the garden presented the exciting possibility to create various "rooms" with paths and steps linking them together. Each ‘room’ has a different feel and serves a different purpose; relaxation, contemplation and entertainment. The paths between the spaces are heavily flanked in greenery so that the garden feels immersive as you travel through it and exciting when you find it opens into a new space.
A major part of the garden revamp was to include a multi-functional garden studio along with outdoor kitchen and bar area. The studio is used as an office as well as a hang out with a sofa and projector – prefect for movie nights. Together with the alfresco dining area, covered kitchen and garden bar, this is the perfect space for family BBQ’s and entertaining friends.
The result is a garden full of surprises with several terraces that each have their own distinctive charm. The garden now serves the client in multiple ways. Whether it's indulging in a morning coffee on the first terrace by the house, lounging by the lawn to soak up the sun, or hosting long summer evenings at the end of the garden with family and friends; this space caters to a variety of needs.
