Shepherds Bush Courtyard

In addition to our own design and build projects, we’re proud to collaborate with a number of talented garden designers. We were therefore delighted to be asked to construct this small but charming courtyard garden for Emma Griffin Garden Design. Emma’s keen eye for detail made this a particularly rewarding project, and we thoroughly enjoyed bringing her vision to life.

A large swing positioned at the rear of the garden serves as a playful focal point, adding a sense of fun to the space. The original concrete block paving was replaced with elegant clay pavers laid in a stacked bond pattern, creating a clean and contemporary feel. These were interspersed with reclaimed York Stone, offering a pleasing contrast in colour and texture. Decorative gravel was used to border the paved areas, helping to define the edges while enhancing the sense of depth and layering throughout the space.

The irregular paving layout allowed for generous planting pockets that soften the garden and add intimacy. A mix of evergreen shrubs and perennial flowers provides a lush, textured planting scheme that wraps around distinct areas for lounging and dining. A small table and chairs create a perfect spot for a morning coffee, while two loungers invite quiet relaxation in what feels like a secluded retreat right in the heart of the city.
